This song was used in the soundtrack of the film "A Night in Heaven" (1983) before it was included in Bryan Adams' album "Reckless" (1984) one year later.

The song "Faithfully" (by Journey) was the main inspiration for Adams and Jim Vallance (co-author) during the writing process. The Journey's drummer Steve Smith even played on the record.

The song became a hit reaching the top position in Billboard Hot 100 in the USA in 1985. It is his first number-one single there, and it reached charts' top positions in many European countries as well.

A cover version of this song is featured in the film "Magic Mike XXL" (2015).

Shane Filan made a cover of this song for his album "Love Always" in 2017.
